“Phantom Pt. II” by Justice

Me: I can’t stop listening to this song.

Everybody else: Why?

Me: It’s just so damn cool and fun, like some kind of late-70’s/early-80’s roller-disco revival.

Everybody else: Why is that cool?

Me: It just is! Shut up!

“Lindsay Brohan” by Javelin

Recycling old, unwanted sounds, and chopping and layering them over a pulsing beat, a warbled and neo-futurist audio clip slowly degrading as the technology fades away, or as we dance upon it. Sweet island melodies bent and mixed beyond recognition into something resembling the neon tint of an 80’s nightclub, but with a melancholy undercurrent keeping things from getting too garish. Constructing their jams from found sounds and with an ear for infectious synth pop, electronic duo Javelin set their own bar ridiculously high with the first track from their 2009 self-titled EP, the excellently named “Lindsay Brohan.”
