Seven time F1 World Champion Michael Schumacher will lose ten spots from his qualifying position in next 2012 race in Suzuka, Japan based upon his actions in this collision with Bruno Senna in Singapore. “I just went straight on the brakes very hard, locked up everything and tried to brake as hard as possible but the accident wasn’t avoidable any more.” Schumacher said following the incident.

The official FIA stewards’ statement said: “The driver acknowledged that the collision was his error due to failure to anticipate braking performance of the car with lower tyre grip following a safety car period.” This lead to the decision by stewards to dock Schumacher.

FIA and Singapore announce second five year Deal

As reported on Joup late last week the FIA and Singapore have agreed to a second five year deal to host the race at Marina Bay Street Circuit until 2017. SGP’s point man Ong Beng Seng announced, “In 2012—already—we are celebrating five years of night racing. What better way to celebrate than to keep Marina Bay and Formula One together for another five years? We believe Formula One has added a new dimension to our city—but we feel this spectacular night race has also brought a different dimension to Grand Prix racing.”
