Underworld Solo Projects & Danny Boyle’s Trance

Karl Hyde, one half of the core members that comprise the beautiful electronic group Underworld has a solo album coming out in April. The name of the record is Edgeland, and if the first track, Cut Clouds, is any indication it’s going to be a must for Underworld fans.

You can pre-order Edgeland in Underworld’s shop here:http://www.underworldlive.com/store

Now, as for the other half of Underworld, Rick Smith has also been busy writing and recording the score for Danny Boyle’s forthcoming film Trance. I’m quite the fan of Mr. Boyle’s films and his relationship with the Underworld gents has been a big part of that. Trance is to be released on March, 27th this year and stars Rosario Dawson, James McAvoy, Vincent Cassel. Here’s the trailer:

Shawn’s Best of Films: 2012

Okay, it’s officially 2013 – I wanted to wait until the very last shadows of 2012 had passed before putting this up, A) because I’ve written up a number of ‘Best of’ lists here in the last week or two and B) because what better way to cap a year completely than by replacing the cork after it’s over and the taste has left your mouth. To me this final list will be a kind of lemon sorbet – a palette cleanser. After this 2012 – which was by no means a bad year – is gone forever and I move steadfastly onto something… new.

The Horror Movie Work Week Bonus: International Film #2 : Shutter 2004 (Thai)

Official Movie Image of Shutter

So I couldn’t let Bakes have all the movie going fun. This month provided his wealth of knowledge into the horror film realm with four installments of his “Horror Movie Work Week.” Find them here: Week 1, Week 2, Week 3 and Halloween Night Addition #4. Bakes, you covered a lot of film…A LOT. So I’ll just dabble in your area of expertise (as I often like to do in other topics as well) and put a spin on it in our first crossover column. So my pick for the month (well it’s November 1st so celebrate The Day of the Dead) is the Thai film Shutter directed by Banjong Pisanthanakun and Parkpoom Wongpoom. When in Thailand…get spooked by the Thai.

The Horror Movie Work Week #4

Horror Movie Work Week #3: Anthologies!!!

Okay, so I’m on the road right now and internet is intermittent at best. Plus I’ve been putting these up on Mondays but wanted to adjust that so I hit the last one directly on All Hallows Eve, so from here out it’s Wednesday. And this Wednesday it’s Anthology week here on the Horror Movie Work Week! I mean, what genre goes better with the Anthological format than horror? None, that’s what! So let’s get right into this week’s goody bag of deviousness and dismemberment, shall we?

First FOOTAGE from Evil Dead Re-Make

Just severael months ago I wasn’t so sure about the idea of an Evil Dead remake. I mean, doesn’t everyone want to know what happens next in the life of Ash (Bruce Campbell) when he… well, when he awoke/returned at the end of whatever version of Army of Darkness you happen to own. In one he returns to S-Mart and is followed by at least one deadite, in another he sleeps for what appears to be hundreds (thousands?) of years and wakes to find the world has fallen into ruin. But after several fantastic updates this week on bloodydisgusting.com  I am excited!!!
